T-Ball

Update: Registration for 2012 Spring T-Ball League is now officially closed. Registration for the 2014 Spring T-Ball League will open in December 2013.

T-Ball is a great way to begin to develop the fundamental skills required to be a baseball player. The league is co-ed and is open to children in kindergarten and first grade (must be 5 years old on or before April 6, 2013). Teams have one practice per week on either Tuesday or Thursday evenings from 6:00pm - 7:15 pm and a game on Saturday. The games will begin on April 6, 2013 and end on May 18, 2013 (7 games), here at Colonial. The game times will rotate between 9:15 am and 10:30 am (there may possibly be an 11:45 am game depending upon enrollment levels). There are no evaluations for this league. During each practice, a "team meeting" will be held in which the coaches will go through an ~10 minute team devotion. This information will be provided to the coaches.

Players will need a glove, sneakers (cleats are optional), and sports pants preferably without pockets. Jerseys, hats, balls, bats, and helmets will be provided. The registration fee is $45.

As you would expect, the success of our T-Ball league is greatly dependent on having parents and others volunteer to help. Please consider being involved as either an Assistant Coach or Head Coach.

We will have a Coaches meeting on March 19th, 2013 from 6:00-7:30pm (head coaches from 6:00-7:30pm and assistant coaches joining us from 6:30-7:30pm) which will include going through the coaches materials for you to be prepared, even if you have never previously coached T-Ball.

Colonial T-Ball leagues are designed to teach and develop a young player's skills while incorporating a positive Christian influence. The league also provides a great opportunity for outreach. You are encouraged to invite your friends and co-workers who do not attend a local church to register their children for the league.

Machine Pitch Baseball

WEATHER UPDATE

Tuesday 5/7/13 @ 2:25 pm: Good News! While the fields are wet, there is very little standing water on them and as a result we are going to have all practices today. If inclement weather arises this afternoon, please check back here or the weather hotline (919-573-1573) for further updates.

Machine Pitch Baseball is a great way to continue to develop the fundamental skills required to be a baseball player. Additionally, our desire is to help prepare children for their future participation in sports as well as life.

The league is co-ed and is open to children in 2nd grade through 6th grade. For homeschool students, we require they be 7 years old on or before April 6, 2013. The league will consist of 2 age divisions with the exact age split to be determined based on registration numbers. To help create "equally skilled" teams, there will be 1 mandatory evaluation night on Thursday, March 7th from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm. Teams will have one practice per week on Tuesday or Thursday evenings from 6:00pm - 7:15 pm and a game on each Saturday. The games will be played at either 11:45 am or 1:00 pm (if our registration figures dictate a 6 team league, then there will also be games played at 2:15 pm). The children will meet once per week for one hour on Saturdays starting on April 6, 2013 and ending on May 18, 2013 (7 sessions), here at Colonial. Practices and games will take place at Colonial. During each practice, a "team meeting" will be held in which the coaches will go through an ~10 minute team devotion. Devotion materials will be provided to the coaches.

Players will need a glove, tennis shoes or rubber cleats (optional), and black baseball pants without pockets. Jerseys, hats, balls, bats, and helmets will be provided. We will play on a lined field which will include team benches for the players and an outfield fence. The registration fee is $50.

As you would expect, the success of our Machine Pitch Baseball League is greatly dependent on having parents and others volunteer to help. Please consider being involved as either an Assistant Coach or Head Coach. We will be holding a Machine Pitch coaches meeting on Tuesday, March 12 from 6:00 - 7:30 pm in room FC201 (2nd floor of the Family Center).
