2014-2015 Winter Registration will open on August 1st!

The Children's Basketball League is for children 6 years old through 12th grades as governed by their public or private school grade eligibility guidelines. In rare instances, we will allow skilled 5 year olds to play in the 1st/2nd grade division, however they must be able to make baskets on an 8' goal. The grade divisions will most likely be broken into 1st/2nd grades, 3rd/4th grades, 5th/6th grades, 7th/8th grades and 9th-12th grades. Boys and girls will play in separate leagues.

For all the 3rd - 12th grade age divisions, we also hope to have a more recreational division and a more advanced division.  The coaches that evaluate the players on evaluation night, will determine which players are best suited for the advanced league.  If invited to play in the advanced league, it will be your deicsion whether or not to play in the lesser or advanced league.  In rare instances, we will allow a very skilled player to "play up" into an older age division.

Participants will practice for one hour during the week on either Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday beginning in early December. On your registration, we give you the choice to exclude one of the three practice day options. Games are played on Saturdays and will begin in early January and conclude the end of February (7 games). A general rule is that 1st & 2nd graders will play games rotating between 8am-noon, 3rd & 4th graders play all throughout the day, and the 5th & 6th, 7th & 8th and 9th - 12th grade leagues will play games sometime between 12:30pm-6:30pm The cost for the Children's Basketball League is $60. The league fee includes a player t-shirt, jersey, and shorts. If you want to plan ahead for next year, we open children's basketball registration on this webpage each August 1st and registration stays open for approximately 3 months, or until the leagues reach capacity. Planning ahead is recommended as the leagues almost always fill to capacity by late September.

Each child will need to attend an evaluation on ONE of the nights to determine their individual skill level. Evaluation days will be on October 17th and 29th (from 5:20 pm - 7:00 pm each of those evenings). You will choose ONE of these evenings to attend the evaluation (you will be assigned to ONE of six time slots: 5:20 pm, 5:40 pm, 6:00 pm, 6:20 pm, 6:40 pm OR 7:00 pm). We will then form teams by the end of November, and begin practices the week of December 9th. Remember evaluations are mandatory for ALL players. We will evaluate nearly 500 children over these 2 sessions and will do so as quickly as possible. A parent of each participant is required to attend the family meeting (part of the evaluation session), even if you have been in our program in previous years. Please plan for the evaluation process to take 60 - 90 minutes.

The 1st & 2nd grade league uses a 27.5" ball and the 3rd - 8th grade leagues use a 28.5" ball. The 1st & 2nd grade leagues play on 8' goals, the 3rd & 4th grade leagues play on 9' goals, and the 5th - 8th grade and 9th - 12th grade leagues play on 10' goals.

As our Sports Ministry has grown to the extent that we now have more than 3000 participants annually, the number of "same team player requests" and "specific coach requests" has reached the point that we are no longer able to accommodate all the requests due to time constraints along with our desire to attempt to create "equally skilled" teams. With that being said, as this is a ministry in which we use sports as a way to reach NEW families, we will accommodate requests to play together on the same team in which the person(s) you have invited has not previously participated in the league in which you have registered to play.

As always, the success of our Children's basketball league is directly dependent on our volunteers! We’ll need nearly 100 volunteers just to coach, plus additional volunteers doing a variety of tasks. Please consider offering to help in some way.
